Walking Through New Brunswick

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

As a charity that operates province-wide, Heart and Stroke New Brunswick acknowledges that it carries out its work on the traditional unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq and Peskotomuhkati peoples.

New Brunswick is home to some of the most incredible landscapes in Canada. With people travelling from all over the country to see what New Brunswick has to offer, it is easy for those who live in this province to forget what New Brunswick has to offer.

We have compiled a short list of some of New Brunswick's beautiful trails for you to explore.

Sussex Bluffs - Sussex, NB

This well-maintained, one-hour footpath will lead you to some pretty incredible views. Though this trail can be quite busy, there is plenty of places to explore along the way to move at your own pace!

You will park at the Sussex water tower and begin with the trail on the right-hand side.

Black Beach Trail - Musquash, NB

This moderately difficult, 1.5-hour forested trail will bring you to the beautiful Black Beach. The unique black pigment of the sand is the highlight of this area. You will see stairs to the left of the trail sign, this will take you down to the Black Beach Trail.

Odell Park Circuit - Fredericton, NB

This 5.3km loop located in the heart of Fredericton is home to the main trail as well as many smaller trails for the adventurer. Simply park or begin your visit off Dundonald street and explore all this park has to offer.

There are ponds, disc golf, and off-leash areas!

Irish Town Nature Park - Moncton, NB

Just outside of the heart of Moncton you will find Irishtown Nature Park. Here you will find 4.7km of the main pathway as well as 6.9km of additional footpaths. Irishtown provides visitors with a diversified ecology that includes Acadian woodlands, different topography, marshlands, and a lake as one of the biggest urban parks in Canada.

There is plenty of parking as well as washrooms and a canoe launch should you choose to explore the lake.

Sadlers Nature Trail - Plaster Rock, NB

Sadlers Nature Trail provides explorers with a well-maintained walk around Roulston Lake.

There are numerous shelters along the walk that include picnic tables along the lake. The route is covered with a mixture of wood chips and crushed stones and is relatively level.

When you've finished this 30 minute walk feel free to check out the local cuisine, such as Lil' Peppinos, Dayna's Country Kitchen, or JR's Takeout.
